Mission Statement
Society of Skeletal Radiology’s CME efforts shall be to provide continuing medical education for practicing musculoskeletal radiologists via an annual scientific meeting.
- The goals of this annual meeting are to encourage research activity and dissemination, stimulate collaboration among members, and refine subspecialty expertise.
- Peer-reviewed papers will be given by society members covering such musculoskeletal topics as tumors, arthritis, sports medicine/trauma, metabolic/endocrine disease, spine topics, imaging techniques and procedures, resident/fellow education and socioeconomic issues.
- Completed research, preliminary work, or simply ideas can be given a forum, with discussion encouraged.
- Based on needs assessment, special top panel discussions will be developed and presented.
Needs
The need for this scientific meeting has been established from:
- Review of written meeting evaluation surveys for each individual scientific presentation from prior meetings
- An analysis of a needs questionnaire completed at the completion of each annual special focus session
- Personal interview of the Executive and Program Committees with meeting attendees and Society members
- Detailed discussion of the Program Committee with the Executive Committee
General Objectives:
At the completion of the Scientific Program, the participants should be able to:
- Identify new imaging techniques and their application in musculoskeletal radiology
- Evaluate ongoing clinical and basic research projects by Society members
- Demonstrate new diagnostic modalities
- Identify emerging techniques and technologies of interest to the Musculoskeletal radiologist
- Recognize new imaging manifestations of musculoskeletal disease
Focus Session Objectives:
- Illustrate the sonographic techniques and findings in evaluating the joints of the hands in patients with a possible inflammatory arthritis
- Identify sonograhic appearance and grading of synovitis and erosions
- Describe sonographic criteria for median nerve entrapment at the carpal tunnel in patients with RA
- List the principle extrinsic capsular ligaments of the wrist
- Describe the radiographic signs of the various stages of scapholunate instability
- List the progressive stages of ulnar impaction syndrome Identify the most common tumors to affect the hands and fingers
- Recognize the imaging appearance of common benign lesions involving the distal upper extremity
- Describe the appearance and behavior of common malignant lesions involving the hands and fingers
- Describe the radiologic and clinical features of multicentric reticulohistiocytosis
- Describe the radiologic and clinical features of hemochromatosis
- Describe the radiologic features of sarcoidosis involving the hands and feet
- Describe the radiologic features of carpal tarsal osteolysis
- Identify Metatarsalgia and review its common causes
- Identify the normal anatomy of the plantar plate of the lesser metatarsophalangeal joints
- Distinguish the pathogenesis and imaging findings of plantar plate degeneration and rupture
- Explain the anatomy and biomechanics of the finger pulleys
- Recognize the major closed mechanism by which the finger pulleys are injured
- Identify the criteria by which injuries of the finger pulleys can be diagnosed with either MRI or ultrasound.
- List the terminology commonly used by podiatrists when describing flatfoot
- Evaluate the causes of flatfoot, and to simplify these into three primary causes
- Describe the staging and treatment of posterior tibial tendon dysfunction
- Recognize the typical imaging appearance subungual (Dupuytren) exostosis and chondromyxoid fibroma affecting the foot
- Recognize the radiologic manifestations, distribution and differentiation of expansile lytic lesions of the hindfoot
- Identify the radiologic appearances and the pathologic basis of giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath and synovial sarcoma involving the foot

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and the Society of Skeletal Radiology. The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 18.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Single/ Double occupancy rate is $245.00, plus applicable tax (currently at 9%).

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
FROM McCARRAN AIRPORT
Take I-215 East to Henderson. Continue on the 215 until it ends; it will become Lake Mead Parkway. Travel past Boulder Highway, approximately 7 miles. Lake Las Vegas is on the left; follow signs to the Loews.
Approximate driving time: 21.3 Miles (35 Minutes). Please note that the traffic may increase driving time.
Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds, less a $50 processing fee, must be made in writing prior to February 15, 2010. No refunds will be made for meeting registration cancellations after that date, or for no-shows, or for cancellation requests not received in writing. No exceptions will be made.
